The second part of the effect is hard to read but if you look carefully, it says it cannot gain “health” or lose “damage” –the latter essentially meaning “it cannot be healed”. These two restrictions are there to make it harder to use its Barrier multiple times… which would be quite broken (but you can still do that, if you work hard enough ;))
